St Mary with St Matthew,
Cheltenham

The month of April has been amazingly busy. I moved to a new place and am about to move again. I went to Bristol for work and visited Bath, Cheltenham, Weston-super-Mare, Yate, Yeovil, and Filton. I even went to London yesterday by coach, once again for work, which was an affair to remember. In the morning I walked the distance of half an hour in 15 minutes, and, in the words of many of my colleagues, “things are happening”.

The church of St Mary with St Matthew is in Cheltenham. It was my first time in the English South-West, something of a lifetime dream. I still didn’t make it to Gloucester, Exeter and Devon, and Salisbury, as well as Glastonbury and Stonehenge… but I accept that one should prolong the experience and satisfaction thereof.

I was told by someone who made over twenty thousand photos in the last few years that this photo tells many stories. “Everything is there”, the person said.”The light is there, shadows are there, branches with leaves and without leaves…”

To tell you the truth, I didn’t realise this when I was taking the photo. I was thrilled to be away from Manchester, in the part of the country where I have long wanted to go, and I didn’t even work much on composition. But I do like what I saw – and am seeing on this photo – a lot.
