The 4-mins short about a man whose life quite literally spirals downwards at a neck-breaking speed was once selected for Sundance Film Festival programme. This appears to be a story of a suddenly inadequate behaviour that sends the person down the road of social alienation and self-destruction. There are two main ways of interpreting this story. One, is that we are swarmed by so many rules in the society that a revolt is growing within and spurts out in erratic and inexplicable acts of ‘yearning for freedom’. Two, is that this is exactly the kind of ‘yearning of freedom’ that is scary, destructive, and should be controlled by social rules.
There must be the third way, right? There must be the way to abide by certain rules without suffocating your inner self. I hope we all find this third way.
